Powell Flooring’s owner, Benny Powell, recently attended the prestigious DM Hardwood Design School in Ocala, Florida, where he honed advanced techniques in custom hardwood artistry. Learning directly from renowned expert Dave Marzalke, Benny spent a week immersed in fourteen-hour days of hands-on training with fifty of the nation’s top flooring contractors. From scroll work to hand-scraping and creating intricate inlays like a custom-designed eagle, Benny returned with new skills and the Most Valuable Student award. Elevate Your Space with Custom Borders & Stair Designs
Pre-finished, red oak border around American walnut hardwood flooring. Client bought a new home, removed some built in cabinets and found multiple sections of flooring missing. We were able to find it's source, but unfortunately it's sold out and no longer available. Our solution was to create this horse shoe shaped border, using a contrasting wood.
Client chose block corners, we agreed. We’re always happy to help, and full of creative flooring solutions. These solid, sturdy block corners catch your eye, but what makes them really pop is the beautiful hardwood.

Stepping It Up! We got the call to sand and refinish the upstairs of a newly purchased home. Home had hardwood steps already, so they were older, squeaky and pretty beat up.
Client decided it would be best to do a full replacement of all the oak treads and risers. We even stepped up the landing a bit. We're always looking for an opportunity to get custom, and creative.
Take a Step! This step coming down from the Master bedroom was too small, and the blue carpet shouldn't be sticking out under the door like that. No problems, only solutions!!
We enlarged the step and build in a new custom nosing to eliminate the carpet.

Hardwood Sand and Finish
1,100 sqft of hardwood sand and finish, with a set of steps! Just the first coat pictured here, back tomorrow for another buff and coat.
Our standard sand package includes three coats of finish, but we're happy to do four if you'd like!
No project is too small, and no project too large
This was one bedroom, client removed carpet themselves to save a couple bucks. We encourage clients to participate if they'd like to, but we can provide full service if you'd like as well. We removed particle board found under the carpet, provided and installed new plywood to match existing floor height in hallway, then installed and finished this beautiful white oak.
Uncovering A Unique Discovery
This homeowner hit the lottery when they purchased an older duplex in north Plymouth, they removed all existing carpet and discovered original hardwood floors underneath!! We were honored to get the privilege of restoring these beauty's. Heart pine was popular in the early 1900, we run it to a lot of it in this amazing area!! We use only the best products available to restore these incredible floors to thier original beauty.
